BMS OilBug and OilBug+Plus
ouilbug-plus.jpg
BMS OilBug is a miniature sophisticated Liquid Oil Leak Detection Alarm designed as a stand-alone module, powered from an external mains or a 'low voltage' power supply, and to provide an alarm signal to a Building Management System or other Remote Alarms via relay changeover contacts.

The OilBug is also available in an audio/visual alarm variant, being the OILBUG+Plus Module (shown left), which is fitted with three additional LED Indicators (advising Power On, Liquid Detected and Line Fault), and also an internal Horn and a Mute Button.

The OilBug is designed to monitor liquids such as oils chemicals, acids, and also water, from RedEye Optoschmitt Sensors. The system alarms immediately the RedEye Sensor is activated by the change of refractive index at the sensor optodome boundary caused by the presence of the leaking substance.

The RedEye requires contact with liquid rather than with residue to raise an alarm. The sensing and the alarm are immediate. Unlike competitive systems, the RedEyes do not self-destruct in providing an alarm and are therefore completely re-usable and do not need to be replaced.

The OilBug can be manufactured for either a 110 or 230V AC supply, or 24V AC supply (optional 12 - 24V, AC or DC supply from external sources which must not have the transformer tied down to earth). Power consumption is approximately 30mA on ‘run’ and 50mA in ‘alarm’ with relay energised.

A 'No-Volt' output signalling relay is provided (rated 240VAC 2amp) with 'Normally Open/Closed' change-over contacts (and can be provided with an optional relay facilities for 'Cable Fault' and 'Power Failed', both rated 240VAC 2amp). The Leader Cable distance between the OilBug and the Sensor should not exceed 50m.

RedEye 1

redeye1.jpg

RedEye 1 Leak Detection System has been designed to provide alarm monitoring of leaks of complex liquids such as diesel and heating oil’s, as well as some chemicals and acids, and for simultaneous monitoring of water leaks, in important areas such as computer areas, boiler rooms, tank rooms, plant rooms, pump rooms, storage areas etc.

Leak Detection Monitoring is via RedEye Opto-electronic sensor probes connected to the control unit by a multicore leader cable. The Leader Cable distance between the Controller and the sensor should not exceed 50m. Unlike many other oil detection systems, the Aqualeak RedEye sensing and the alarm are immediate, and the sensors are permanently re-usable. Competitive surface oil detection systems have sensors which have to be immersed for a prolonged period while they self destruct in the process of providing the alarm. These therefore have to be replaced after any contact with the liquid being monitored. Conversely, Water Detection systems cannot detect oil because oil is non-conductive and water detection systems require conductivity to operate. RedEye Sensors provide combined protection for both oil and water, and are fully reusable.

The RedEye 1 Control Unit is provided with individual zone alarm lights and a mutable horn which comes on immediately the RedEye sensor is activated by the change of refractive index at the sensor opto-dome boundary caused by the presence of the leaking substance. The sensing and the alarm are immediate. The Alarm light remains on while the Sensor remains in contact with the leaking substance. The system automatically resets immediately the liquid is cleared without any operator input.

RedEye 1 is provided with two output alarm relays. The ‘Alarm’ relay is for linking to an optional Aqualeak Remote Alarm Unit, to a BMS system, or to switch on/off control systems etc. The second relay can be used by the BMS to ‘time/date stamp’ when the mute button was pressed to indicate when the alarm was acted upon, or to mute an external sounder. The RedEye 1 System can be supplied with optional Battery Backup Pack and can also be linked to the optional Aqualeak AutoDial unit. The leader cable distance between the controller and sensor should not exceed 50m.

RGO Series

RGO MultiZone Liquid / Oil Leakage Detection Systems have been designed to provide alarm monitoring of leaks of complex liquids such as diesel and heating oil’s, as well as some chemicals and acids, and for simultaneous monitoring of water leaks, in important areas such as computer areas, boiler rooms, tank rooms, plant rooms, pump rooms, storage areas etc. RGO MultiZone systems are available in three cabinet sizes: 1 to 8 zones, 1 to 16 zones and 1 to 32 zones.

Leak Detection Monitoring is via RedEye Opto-electronic sensor probes connected to the control unit by a multicore leader cable. The Leader Cable distance between the Controller and the sensors should not exceed 50m.

The RGO MultiZone Control Unit is provided with individual zone alarm lights and a mutable horn which comes on immediately the RedEye sensor is activated by the change of refractive index at the sensor opto-dome boundary caused by the presence of the leaking substance. The sensing and the alarm are immediate. The Alarm light remains on while the Sensor remains in contact with the leaking substance. The system automatically resets immediately the liquid is cleared without any operator input.

The RGO MultiZone is provided with a common alarm relay and optionally with individual zone signalling relays. Relays can be linked to an optional Aqualeak Annunciator Alarm, to a BMS system, or to switch on/off control systems etc. The RGO MultiZone System can be supplied with optional Battery Backup Pack and can also be linked to the optional Aqualeak AutoDial unit. The leader cable distance between the controller and sensor should not exceed 50m.

RGW Series

rgw.jpg

RGW Systems are designed to monitor from separate sensors which can differentiates between oil and water in areas where both liquids could be present, such as in lift pits, tank rooms, plant rooms, boiler rooms etc. RGW systems are available in three cabinet sizes: 1 to 8 zones, 1 to 16 zones and 1 to 32 zones.

RGW System is normally fitted with one RedEye Oil Detection Sensor and one Water Detection Sensors for each zone. Sensors can be housed in common wall mounted housing and are connected to the RGW Unit by a multicore cable. The RGW unit shown left was one of a series fitted to individual lift pits where monitoring was required of two separate levels of rising water and one level of hydraulic oil. I

On the assumption that detection is of oil, then the water sensor would not be affected by oil as oil is non conductive, but the oil would be picked up by the RedEye Sensor. Therefore only one LED, the oil sensor, would be illuminated on the RGW for Zone 1. If detection is of water, than both sensors would go into alarm, and two LEDs would be illuminated on the RGW Unit.

The RGW System is provided with individual zone alarm lights and a mutable horn which comes on immediately any sensor is activated. The sensing and the alarm are immediate and simultaneous with any other. The Alarm light remains on while the Sensor remains in contact with the leaking substance. The system automatically resets when the liquid is cleared, requiring no operator input.

The RGW MultiZone is provided with a common alarm relay and optionally with individual zone signalling relays. Relays can be linked to an Aqualeak Annunciator Alarm, to a BMS system, or to switch on/off control systems etc. The RGW MultiZone System can be supplied with optional Battery Backup Pack, and can be linked to the Aqualeak AutoDial unit. The leader cable distance between the controller and sensor should not exceed 50m. It should be noted that as water sensing is carried out via conduction, the RGW system should not be used with any volatile liquids or gasses present.
